Our Kenyan Kids participates in the annual Wall Street United Church Yuletide Fair. Over the past years, this has normally been in two forms:
The Our Kenyan Kids Booth
Whenever Our Kenyan Kids supporters visit Kenya, whether as part of a group Mission Exposure Trip (MET) or on an individually arranged basis, they are encouraged to bring back Kenyan craft work to be sold on our booth at the Wall Street Christmas Yuletide Fair. Typical items include clothing made at the Kawangware Tailoring Project, sandals with beadwork, jewellery and ornaments. Also sold on our booth are photographs of Kenyan, particularly of the wildlife, and cards with a Kenyan motif created by by our supporters.
Also on sale at the booth and throughout the year music CDs of Doug Warren's easy-to-listen-to piano playing and DVDs of the 2008/9 MET and of music recorded during that trip. (These CDs and DVDs, described in more detail in the Media/CD & Video page of the web site, are available thoughout the year from the Wall Street United Church office and by mail order.)
Alternative Christmas Gifts Table
Why not give a tax deduction as a Christmas present for that difficult-to-buy-for person? At the Alternative Gifts Table, a $10 or greater donation to Our Kenyan Kids will buy a Christmas Card. An insert will advise the recipient that the donation has been made in his or her name.
We also run an Indoor GarageSale each year.
Announcements regarding these and other similar events will be made in the News & Events column on our Home Page.
